PLANNING APPLICATIONS JUST RECEIVED

Two new planning applications have been received which are in the Fareham – Stubbington strategic gap which are essentially revisions of previously refused or withdrawn applications:

Persimmon Homes has submitted an application for 209 houses south of Oakcroft Lane, Stubbington (previously 261 houses) and Hallam Land has submitted an application on Newlands Farm for 1,200 houses, an 80 bed care home, two-form entry 420 place primary school, a local centre including a community centre and healthcare facility. Access is via Longfield Avenue and Peak Lane. Public open space includes the laying out of a new country park and sports facilities; drainage infrastructure; walking and cycling infrastructure and other associated works. There is no access onto the Stubbington Bypass which is now under construction.

I believe that these applications are premature to the consideration of public comments on Fareham’s emerging Local Plan (including the Supplement consulted upon in early 2020) and to the Council approving a Publication Plan for statutory consultation later this year. This will be followed by independent examination by a government inspector at a public inquiry.

The applications will be uploaded to the Council’s planning application portal for public comment once they have been validated.

FAREHAM IN BLOOM GOES VIRTUAL

Fareham in Bloom has been bringing our community together for 25 years. It has grown into a well-known and successful gardening campaign involving residents throughout the Borough and encourages local communities to provide bright and colourful planting schemes.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 the usual format of the Community Gardening Challenge can’t take place this year. But we still want to see your beautiful gardens, displays and creations!

We’re running a virtual Fareham in Bloom competition. Submit a photo of your garden, veg patch, hanging basket, window box or something else you’re proud of in your garden and you could win a prize. Don’t worry if you don’t have a garden. There are six categories you can enter ranging from gardens to window boxes, so there is something for everyone.

You can enter one of the six categories by submitting a photo and short description of your outdoor creations. There will then be a public vote and a judge’s vote, with winners receiving a prize!

Categories:

Best Garden – garden of any size, front or back garden

Grow Your Own – fruit/veg patch or plant, allotment

Commercial – pubs/businesses/schools

Something Small – Hanging basket, window box, unusual garden feature, potted plant

Community Floral Display – Your street/cul de-sac, community centre, public service area etc

Kid’s Corner (for children aged 11 and under) – Something the kids have planted/grown, potted plant, decorative stone/area within the garden

How to enter

To enter, please complete the online form and upload one photo and short description about your entry. https://www.fareham.gov.uk/onlineforms/displayform.aspx… Entries open on Monday 29 June. The closing date for entries is Friday 31 July.
