Plenty of local residents attended the event to launch the construction of Stubbington Bypass.
I am so pleased to have started this important project including many improvements to access for Fareham and Gosport in 2013 as Hampshire County Council Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment. I worked for the next few years to take it through the public consultation to the grant of planning permission. Then on to obtaining £34m of funding via government and Solent LEP
The Bypass will when completed in 2022 be the final piece in the package of measures I introduced including improvements to St Margaret’s Roundabout, dualling the A27 from Fareham to Segensworth, a new Newgate Lane South and improved Peel Common Roundabout.
All of these measures taken together improve traffic flows between Fareham and Gosport ands onwards to the M27 at junction 9 as well as assisting the important employment site Solent Enterprise Zone at Solent Airport, Daedalus
